One of the best ways to reduce your EMF Sensitivity is to ensure that your main living area, your house,
is a space that does not have high EMF fields. Unfortunately, in our day and age, it is extremely difficult to find any house that successfully mitigates all EMF exposure.
A) Location: Cell Phone Coverage Most countries have a compilation of antennas that you can research. In the United States, you can use AntennaSearch.com which is an excellent database searchable by street address. You will be able to see the number of antennas within a few miles of your house, including the provider maintaining the site. Unfortunately, you cannot tell the Signal Strength or the Coverage Area of each tower. Another good way of finding areas with less cell phone coverage is to ask Cell Phone providers for their areas of No Coverage. Usually, there will be one or two areas in a state where coverage is patchy. Your local cell phone provider will know where they are. The Location, Construction, and Interior Wiring of a house will determine the EMF exposure of a house.
B) Location: Hills and Mountains You should drive the few blocks around the house to understand the topography of the region. The Topography of the region will dictate the strength of the signals that you will receive from surrounding towers. Some signals require Line of Sight in order to affect your area. So, if there is a large hill between you and a tower, there is a reasonable chance that the signal from the tower might not be able to reach you. Houses are most protected at the bottom of a hill, where the house is situated as close as possible to a hill or mountain side (the lee of the mountain). This is because there is an "EMF shadow" cast by the tower, where you are protected from line of sight frequencies by using the mountain itself to shield yourself from the hilltop antenna. Additionally, the mountain shields you from other strong frequencies which may be generated by very distant sources. Finally, by locating yourself immediately near a hill/mountain, you are most likely outside of the major power distribution network for your city. C) Location: Rural vs Urban Generally speaking, rural and suburban areas have fewer towers and less power. If you currently live in the city and are having problems, you might try driving a few hours out of the city to the country side to see if you feel better. In Sweden, many EMF sensitive individuals live in cottages in the countryside. D) Location: The Urban Paradox Depending on your location, sometimes the safest place for an EMF Sensitive individual is in the middle of a city. This happens when there are very strong sources located in rural areas, for example. In this instance, the buildings found in cities will act as shields from these ElectroMagnetic Fields. Commercial buildings in particular are good shields as they are usually built with concrete, stone, or other resistive materials. Commercial buildings have a Lee or an EMF shadow, similar to mountains.
E) Location: Power Lines Pay close attention to the power lines in your area. In particular, try to understand the primary route for power distribution within your area. You may may feel more comfortable living OUTSIDE of these main power lines, on the outskirts of your city, or before the main power substation servicing your city. Housing on smaller roads can alleviate your EMF burden, away from highways where cell towers tend to proliferate. If you are on a dead end road, chances are there will be fewer power lines in your area as well. Note that if you are located right next to a highway (but distant from highway cell phone towers) you may benefit from highway sound barriers which act as good EMF shields. Any location that has buried power lines, will be more easily tolerated by a person with EMF Sensitivity. F) Location: Compass Direction
Scientists have postulated a connection between compass direction and animals' sense of direction and ability to navigate. There are a variety of scientific opinions in this area. We believe that there are "EMF Micro Climates" for each geographical area or region. If you can identify the primary micro climate in an area, you can determine which direction needs to be protected and act accordingly (e.g. a Southerly source might cause you to situate yourself with a mountain to your South, and your windows facing North).
